Charity Donations

At lovebadges we had a think about how we might be able to give something back to others - or to use a more cliche term - 'spread the love'.

We came up with the idea of donating a percentage of each order to charity. There are obviously lots of worth while charities out there so we decided to start by choosing some close to our hearts. As a result we currently support:

We decided that giving you the option to choose which of these got your part of the contribution also made sense, so we went to work right away making it an option when buying our badges.

A further think highlighted that some people may not be able or may not wish to choose the charity, as such we also included a random option too. When donating to a random charity it will be one of the ones listed or another random charity or good cause.

How does it work
Each month we keep a running total of how many customers chose which charity option. We also keep a record of how much those customers spent on their orders. Depending on how high the figure has got we will either make a donation of the total for each charity at the end of each quarter, or we will do one big donation to each charity each year.

When we make our donations we will write about it on the site, post it on twitter and announce it in our newsletter so everyone can see how each charity has been able to benefit. Where possible we like to get some comments back from the charity on what the money will go towards and how it will help in each situation.
